Football: Romania's national team to play match vs Andorra behind closed doors, according to UEFA's decision

UEFA has sanctioned the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) by having the national team play a match at home behind closed doors as a result of th e incidents caused by supporters by displaying a banner with a political theme at the Romania - Kosovo match from the EURO 2024 qualifiers, informs the FRF on the official website, told Agerpres.

According to UEFA, even if the match between the national team and Andorra will be played behind closed doors, children under 14 will have free access to the stadium.

"UEFA has decided: the match with Andorra will not be open to the general public, but children under 14 will have free access. Today the Disciplinary Commission judged the case opened as a result of the incidents from the match Romania - Kosovo 2-0, played on September 12. UEFA decided to fine the Romanian Football Federation 52,000 euros, and the next match held at home will be played behind closed doors," the frf.ro informs.

The charges in the case tried by UEFA were: displaying and chanting political messages; racist behavior of fans, lighting torches, throwing objects on the field and blocking public access areas.

Romania are undefeated in this campaign, with three wins and three draws, having 12 points, after Switzerland - 14 points, but ahead of the other teams, Israel - 11 points, Belarus - 4 points, Kosovo - 4 points, Andorra - 2 points.
