Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Toiu will present Romania's vision on the future of the region on Saturday, at the Alpbach European Forum in Austria, as she is set to participate over the weekend in the sessions dedicated to Europe's role in the world, the Foreign Affairs Ministry informs, agerpres reports.
Over 4,000 participants from 70 countries are expected at the event focusing on the central themes of security, economy and finance, democracy and climate change.
The Romanian minister will address the participants in the "Europe in the World Days" session, together with the Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavsky, as well as President of the Munich Security Conference Foundation Council, Wolfgang Ischinger; she is next scheduled to have bilateral talks and a meeting with the young Romanian scholarship holders present in Alpbach, the Foreign Ministry said.
The session approaches the central question of the Forum: "How can Europe generate a fresh burst of energy to assert its role in a contested world of power politics?"
The high-level forum is an opportunity for the foreign minister to meet with high-ranking figures from the region and Europe to discuss the situation and evolution of European security, Romania's role as a partner in the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and the countries of the Western Balkans, as well as bilateral relations between Romania and countries in the region.
Young Romanian leaders, scholarship holders and representatives of the academic and associative environment are also slated to participate.
