The minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, will participate, on Monday, in Brussels, in the meeting of the heads of diplomacy from the EU member states - the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC), the agenda of which including countering the effects of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the situation in the Republic of Moldova in this context, topic introduced in the discussions at Romania's request, the situation in Iran, human rights aspects, developments in the Southern Neighborhood and the situation in Tunisia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informed in a statement sent to AGERPRES.

Also on Monday, the ministerial meeting of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) is scheduled, in which Bogdan Aurescu will also participate, together with the ministers of foreign affairs from the EU member states and their counterparts from the partner states: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, the press release reads.

"Minister Bogdan Aurescu will express concern about the attacks on the civil and energy infrastructure of Ukraine and will emphasize, in the context, the need for sustained and joint support to overcome the cold season. At the same time, he will mention Romania's multidimensional support for Ukraine, including in connection with the last data related to the export of Ukrainian grain through our country, according to which more than 10 million tons of grain were exported with the support of our country," the press release states.

According to MAE, Aurescu will support the need to maintain "pressure" on Russia, including by strengthening the sanctions regime and adopting a new package in this regard, and will reiterate Romania's commitment to bring to justice those guilty of the atrocities committed against the Ukrainian people, based on solid legal solutions.

"Regarding the situation in the Republic of Moldova, minister Aurescu will mention the challenges faced by the pro-European government in Chisinau in the energy, economic, social and security sectors. Also, the Romanian official will emphasize the need to support the European path of the Republic of Moldova through deepening the integration in the internal market of the EU," the MAE press release also reads.

"The head of Romanian diplomacy will express concern regarding Iran's conduct in multiple areas, sensitive for EU security and values, such as repression against protesters, the transfer of arms to Russia in support of aggression against Ukraine, flagrant violations of the nuclear non-proliferation regime or destabilizing actions in the Middle East region. Also, the Romanian Foreign minister will support the adoption of new restrictive measures in the field of human rights and, respectively, in connection with the military support provided to Russia in the aggression against Ukraine," MAE also said.
