Foreign Affairs Minister will attend on Thursday and Friday in Hamburg, the 23rd Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the main annual event which gathers diplomacy heads and high officials of the 57 participating countries, alongside representatives of the OSCE's partner states.

According to a release of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) sent to agerpres. on Wednesday, the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Hamburg will be carried out "in a complex political context, marked by important challenges for the regional security and stability, the lack of progress in solving prolonged conflicts, the intensification of threats in the OSCE area and the worsening of migrant/refugee crisis."

In this context, the states attending the OSCE meeting will discuss and adopt a series of decisions and statements about current themes which are on the organization's three dimension agenda - political-military, economic and environmental, human, the MAE says.

"In the past years, Romania has consistently strengthened its profile on the OSCE level, and at the Ministerial Council in Hamburg our country will continue to actively promote the full implementation objective of the principles and commitments assumed on the three dimensions of the OSCE, in agreement with the comprehensive security concept," the MAE mentions.

The OSCE is the most extended political forum in the security area, both from a covered geographical space point of view as well as regarding the comprehensive manner of approaching the security concept.

The Ministerial Council meeting in Hamburg will mark the end of Germany's tenure as OSCE chairman-in-office. For the 2017 the OSCE Chairmanship will be taken over by Austria.
