The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) organized on Friday a new edition of the Open Doors Day, offering the public the opportunity to discover landmarks of Romanian diplomatic and consular activity and to interact with representatives of the institution.
The event, organized on the occasion of the Romanian Diplomacy Day, drew over 300 visitors, who had the opportunity to discover both the MAE headquarters and the Consular Personnel Training Center, the MAE reports.
With the support of the teams from the Diplomatic Archives, the Public Diplomacy Directorate and the Protocol Directorate, the participants took a guided tour through the ministry's reception rooms and had the opportunity to see thematic exhibitions, historical objects and unique archival documents. Representative moments of diplomatic activity were illustrated, by setting up a space dedicated to official negotiations, a working lunch or a press conference, agerpres reports.
Some of the participants also had the opportunity to meet Oana Toiu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who invited them to her office and discussed with the visitors about the minister's activity, how the office is used in daily activity and during visits.
State Secretary Luca Niculescu, national coordinator for Romania's accession process to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), spoke to the participants about Romania's accession process to the organization, and the specialized departments organized sessions presenting the MAE's attributions in the field of consular action and protection, as well as diplomatic and consular career opportunities.
In line with the annual public and cultural diplomacy milestones of the MAE, visitors were also able to admire a photographic exhibition dedicated to the celebration, in 2025, of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Queen Maria of Romania, created by Dan Draghicescu.
At the Consular Personnel Training Center, visitors learned about consular activity, services and procedures carried out by diplomatic missions and consular offices, through practical demonstrations and informative video materials.
