The Mures County Museum announced on Wednesday that all museum sections will be free to visit on National Culture Day, this initiative being part of the institution's mission to create a space where culture is not only exhibited, but also experienced, understood and shared.
"On the occasion of National Culture Day, celebrated annually on January 15, the Mures County Museum invites the public to rediscover cultural heritage through a natural and open gesture: free entry to all museum sections, throughout the entire day tomorrow. National Culture Day is more than a symbolic commemoration. It is an opportunity to reflect on the role of culture in our daily lives as a space for memory, dialogue and the formation of future generations. Culture helps us understand who we are, where we come from and how we can look at the world with more empathy, curiosity and responsibility. In this spirit, the museum opens its doors wide to all those who wish to get closer to history, art, science and heritage, in an accessible and friendly setting (...). Through this initiative, the Mures County Museum reaffirms its mission of a living institution, open to the community a space where culture is not only exhibited, but lived, understood and shared," the Mures County Museum said in a press release.
On this occasion, the public is invited to visit the permanent exhibitions of the museum sections: "The Fortified City", an incursion into the evolution of the city and its community, at the History and Archaeology Section, "The Mures Fairs and the Rural World" dedicated to the world of exchanges, traditions and encounters between people, at the Ethnography and Folk Art Section, the extensive collection dedicated to nature, from fossils and mineralogy to habitats and biodiversity, including the impressive wooly rhinoceros skeleton, thousands of years old, at the Natural Sciences Section, as well as the two art galleries, the exhibition dedicated to Bernády György and the Hall of Mirrors, at the Palace of Culture.
The public can also visit the ongoing temporary exhibitions for free, "Pages from the History of a Museum", a recently opened exhibition, and "Enigmas of Treasures", an invitation to discover objects with hidden stories, at the History and Archaeology Section, as well as "Mures people in trenches of the Great War", dedicated to local memory and experiences during the First World War, at the Ethnography and Folk Art Section.
Also, the exhibition dedicated to the artist "Aurel Ciupe", one of the prominent figures of modern Romanian art, at the Romanian Art Section at the Targu Mures Palace of Culture, as well as "Birds Otherwise" - the first pedagogical exhibition about birds in Romania, at the Natural Sciences Section.
"We are waiting for you to celebrate the National Culture Day at the museum, on a day dedicated to the natural encounter between people and culture. Our specialist colleagues are waiting for you in each of these locations", the Mures County Museum underscores.
