Former NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana believes it is time for Russia to abandon its ultra-maximalist demands and enter negotiations with a real desire to put an end to war and the "enormous human and material losses" that have been carrying on for far too long.
Geoana termed the Ukraine talks in Washington on Monday as excellent, agerpres reports.
"Excellent meetings yesterday in Washington, where the rediscovered unity of the West paves the way for a Trump-Putin-Zelensky trilateral meeting. Security guarantees with American support for Ukraine represent the precondition for a lasting peace and the only formula that can make potential and painful territorial concessions acceptable to Kyiv. It is time for Russia to give up its ultra-maximalist positions and engage in negotiations with the real desire to end the war and the enormous human and material losses that have been going on for far too long," Mircea Geoana wrote on Facebook.
