The German Ambassador to Romania, Angela Ganninger, stated on Tuesday in Tarnaveni, Mures County, at the inauguration of the most modern insulation materials factory in Central and Eastern Europe - built by a German group through an investment worth 140 million euros - that German companies continue to remain the largest foreign direct investors in Romania.

"I am delighted to be here today for the opening ceremony of the new Knauf Insulation plant in Tarnaveni. This event marks not only the inauguration of a state-of-the-art facility but also a significant milestone in the economic and industrial development of the region. It is one of many investments made by German companies in Romania (...). Together, German companies have remained the largest foreign direct investors in this country, even in more challenging times for the global economy. The investment of over 120 million euros in this factory alone, along with additional investments in other parts of the Knauf Group, including Knauf Gips, totalling more than 200 million euros, demonstrates Romania's attractiveness as a place for production and employment," said Ambassador Angela Ganninger.

According to the diplomat, the investment is also a response to a changing economic environment, with the goal of ensuring the availability of high-quality materials in the shortest possible time.

"This is crucial not only for Romania's construction industry but also for the national and European economies as a whole, especially considering the risk of supply chain disruptions. Important support for this project was provided through state aid granted by the Romanian government, which stands as proof of Romania's recognition of this strategic investment. I am pleased that this project was made possible thanks to the strong support at both local and regional levels. Therefore, I would like to thank and congratulate the local authorities in Tarnaveni for their successful efforts in attracting this investment," the German ambassador underlined.

Ambassador Angela Ganninger also expressed confidence that this new unit in Tarnaveni will play a key role in shaping a greener and more sustainable future for Romania and Europe.

During the inauguration ceremony of the glass mineral wool factory in Tarnaveni, the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Marius Jurca, delivered a message on behalf of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

The new production facility is considered a landmark for the local insulation materials market, as it will significantly contribute to increasing Romania's production capacity and supporting the development of sustainable construction.

The factory in Tarnaveni will have an important regional economic impact, creating over 100 jobs.

The inauguration was attended on Tuesday by local and county authorities, along with representatives of the investor.
