The governing coalition, meeting on Wednesday at Victoria Palace, announced that it had reached an agreement on increasing the minimum wage to 4,325 RON starting July 1, 2026.
According to a joint statement by the governing coalition, it was also decided to close the administration reform package by deciding to reduce central administration expenditures by 10% without affecting the level of basic salaries.
"For the local administration, the previous decision of the coalition was maintained. The Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration (MDLPA) is to finalize the normative act in view of assuming the responsibility of the Government," indicated the quoted source.
Other decisions agreed during the meeting, which was held in the presence of the leaders of PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR and national minorities, refer to the 10% reduction in the lump sum received by senators and deputies, as well as the level of subsidies received by political parties.
It was also established that the minimum turnover tax (IMCA) will be reduced to 0.5% starting January 1, 2026 and eliminated from 2027.
The measures to stimulate the economy will be detailed before the adoption of the 2026 budget and will be included in next year's budget projection, the press release states.
