The Government approved on Thursday the acceptance by the Romanian state of donations from Lockheed Martin Global Inc consisting of the ILIAS platform and eight auxiliary F-16 pilot training systems for the Ministry of National Defence and an unmanned aerial system for the Protection and Guard Service.

According to the Executive, the decision accepts the donation from Lockheed Martin Global Inc of the United States, namely 'an integrated logistics, operational and training management system - software and hardware - the ILIAS platform, as well as eight auxiliary training systems for F-16 pilots (PTA).'

The total value of the donation amounts to 10 million dollars and represents an offset operation.

'Through the implementation of the ILIAS platform full visibility is ensured over the condition of the F-16 fleet and the use of resources as well as predictive maintenance, reducing downtime; logistical efficiency is achieved through the complete integration of procurement, storage and transport processes; a common digital base is created that unifies logistics, flight operations and training; interoperability with NATO allies and compatibility with future F-35 platforms are improved and costs are optimised while increasing the operational availability of the fleet,' the release reads.

The PTAs will also accelerate the training of the Romanian Air Force F-16 squadrons without compromising safety or the quality of instruction.

'They provide modern, efficient and safe tools that contribute to better resource and personnel management,' the Government added.

The Romanian state has also accepted the donation from Lockheed Martin Global Inc of an unmanned aerial system, model VXE30, worth 920,262 euro.

The system will be placed under the administration of the Protection and Guard Service.

'This system will contribute to the successful fulfilment of specific missions while maintaining the high level of operational efficiency of the Protection and Guard Service. The donation will allow for the optimisation of available resources and the streamlining of specialist activities without involving additional costs for the Romanian state,' the government release also reads.
