A group of 14 Iraqi nationals was captured on Monday night by an operative team with the Coast Guard in collaboration with the Immigration Service in the southwestern area of southeastern Constanta County.
The group had crossed on foot the green border, coming from Bulgaria.
A press release sent on Tuesday morning by the Coast Guard says that in the area of Bugeac Lake on Monday night, an op team with the Border Police Sector (SPF) Ostrov captured 14 Iraqi nationals who were attempting to illegally cross into Romania from Bulgaria, by walking through the green border.
"The Police arrested the group made up of eight grownups and six children, who said they were from Iraq and intending to reach a Western European destination," the release adds.
