Health employees, march to Revolution Square to picket Health and Labour Ministries.
Health employees, who protested for an hour in the Victoriei Square, unhappy with the wages in the system, left on Tuesday for the Revolution Square to picket the Health Ministry and the Labour Ministry, union leaders estimating that more than 4,000 people will participate in the protest, told Agerpres.
"We have stood outside the Government for an hour and now we are marching to the Labour Ministry and the Health Ministry, where we will picket the two ministries, then we will move on to the Palace of Parliament, where we will hold another one-hour rally. We have promises that we will be called to discussions in all the places we are protesting," Vice-president of the "Sanitary Solidarity" Federation (FSSR) Daniel Bulboaca told AGERPRES on Thursday.
He said that signatures shall be further collected for the launch of a general strike in the health sector, if the unionists' demands are not resolved.
"We continue to collect signatures for the general strike. If 50% plus one of the health employees will sign the tables and agree to make the supreme gesture - an interruption of the activity being unpaid during this period - we will start the health strike at the earliest after July 1," the union leader said.
The "Sanitary Solidarity" Federation of Romania is organising on Thursday the Health protest and march in Bucharest, a rally which started at 11:00hrs in the Victoriei Square and will end around 14:30hrs in the Constitution Square.
Representatives of the public health system present at the protest will support the granting of all the rights provided by the current salary law, namely: the granting of the basic salary at the level of 2022 for all health employees; the reporting of bonuses for working conditions to the basic salaries for auxiliary health staff (nurses, caretakers, stretcher bearers), Technical, Economic and Socio-Administrative personnel and health workers; the reporting of shift bonuses and for working on legal days off to the basic salaries in payment for all categories of staff; the payment of doctors who are on duty at the hourly rate of the basic norm.
