Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete announced on Friday that he has approved the expansion of the network of Advanced Surveillance and Treatment Units for Critical Cardiac Patients (AP-USTACC) by four additional hospitals.

'This brings the total to 29 units dedicated to patients in critical cardiac conditions who require continuous monitoring and rapid intervention,' the minister wrote on Facebook, agerpres reports.

The new units will operate at the Brasov County Emergency Clinical Hospital, the Ploiesti County Emergency Hospital 'Dr Constantin Andreoiu', the Arad County Emergency Clinical Hospital and the Deva County Emergency Hospital.

According to the minister, these facilities are intended for patients suffering from myocardial infarction, severe arrhythmias or other cardiovascular emergencies, 'situations in which every minute can make the difference between life and death'.

The expansion is being carried out through the National Priority Actions Programme - AP-USTACC, under which the units receive direct funding from the Ministry of Health for the purchase of medicines, consumables and medical supplies needed for the care of critically ill patients.

'In cardiology, the difference is made by rapid access to a hospital prepared to intervene immediately. By strengthening these units, we are increasing the healthcare system's capacity to respond to cardiovascular emergencies and to provide advanced cardiac care in as many regions of the country as possible. I know there is still much to be done, but every such step means greater safety for patients and real chances of rapid and effective treatment,' the Health Minister said.
