Hidroelectrica draws attention to the appearance in the online space of advertisements and platforms that misuse the company's name, visual identity or image to promote alleged investment opportunities, such as the platform called "Hidroelectrica Edge".
The company emphasizes, in a release, that these platforms do not belong to it and have no connection with its activity or offers.
"Such initiatives represent attempts at online fraud through which users are encouraged to transfer money or provide personal and banking data, being attracted by promises of quick or guaranteed profits. Hidroelectrica does not request investments through online platforms promoted on social networks, through sponsored advertisements or through telephone messages. Also, the company does not request the transmission of personal or banking data through such channels. The only official website of the company is www.hidroelectrica.ro, and all official information about the company's activity, projects or public communications are posted exclusively on the website and on the official communication channels of Hidroelectrica," the press release reads.
Company representatives recommend that the public be cautious of investment offers promoted online that use the name of Hidroelectrica or other well-known companies in an unauthorized manner and that promise large, quick and guaranteed profits.
"Such schemes may include deceptive advertisements, manipulated video materials or the use of the image of public figures in the company's management to create the appearance of legitimacy," the cited source informs.
Hidroelectrica encourages users who encounter such content to report it on the platforms where it appears and to avoid accessing or entering personal data on suspicious sites.
The company cooperates with the competent authorities to limit the impact of these fraud attempts and to protect the public against the unauthorized use of its name and image.
