Athlete Darius Rapa, a member of University Sports Club (CSU) Stiinta Politehnica Bucuresti, has obtained the second place at the IFSC Youth World Championships 2024, U20 category, held in Guiyang, China, being the first world medal obtained by Romania in the competition climbing, the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest (UPB) announced on Saturday in a press release.
According to UPB, "this is the first world medal obtained by Romania in this discipline, marking a historic moment for our sport".
Darius Rapa started this sport at the age of 6, and his personal and club goal is to obtain a medal at the 2028 Olympics, according to agerpres.ro.
"The development plan, together with CSU Stiinta Politehnica Bucuresti, aims to obtain a medal at the 2008 Olympics. Until the Olympics, Darius will focus his daily athletic efforts on further developing his strong points, namely speed and strength. We are focused on every step of the process, every local, national and international competition," the press release states.
