The Custodian of the Crown, Her Majesty Margareta conveyed on Wednesday, in her Christmas message, that she has confidence in the Romanian nation and its strength to move forward, adding that, despite economic challenges and daily hardships, Romanians have shown courage and common sense.
"The year 2025 has brought many admirable achievements, but also hardships, confusion and concern. The entire world is facing serious social, economic and political problems. People are disappointed and many feel their voices are not heard. But I have confidence in the Romanian nation and its strength to move forward. Despite economic issues and shortcomings in daily life, Romanians have shown courage and common sense," Her Majesty conveyed, agerpres reports.
She also pointed out that she has visited many communities across the country and is proud of "how people care for each other with dignity."
"In Bihor, Oltenia, Transylvania, Dobrogea, Banat, Moldavia, Maramures, everywhere there are people of all ages who think and feel deeply. This gives us hope for the future. I have traveled to Estonia, Ireland, Poland, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Moldova to serve Romania's interests and support the Republic of Moldova's European path. Everywhere I found respect for our country, admiration for how Romania has strengthened and continues moving forward with its head held high. All the Romanians I met abroad are thinking about their parents back home, the future of their children and they never forget the Romanian traditions," the Custodian of the Crown added.
Her Majesty also spoke about Romanian servicemen, firefighters, gendarmes and police officers.
"In the country and abroad, we met with soldiers from the Land Forces, Air Forces and Navy to underscore the importance of Romania at the eastern border of NATO and the EU. Romanian soldiers are exemplary in fulfilling their duties and demonstrate high competence in working with allied countries. I express my admiration for the firefighters, gendarmes, police officers, emergency response specialists and border police," HM Margareta underlined.
Her Majesty mentioned that many Romanians demonstrate professionalism and talent in hospitals, universities, schools, the arts, local administrations, sports, industry, commerce, tourism and agriculture.
"To all those who do not let difficulties and disappointments discourage them, I send my admiration," Her Majesty added.
She also underscored the importance of faith.
"In all the places I have visited, both in the country and abroad, I have seen how important faith is for our people. Churches are full of Romanians of all ages who believe in God and spiritual values, in a world where faith is declining and individualism and indifference have invaded society. Thirty-five years ago, I founded the Margareta Royal Foundation of Romania to encourage people and communities to create their own future. Together with the 70 organisations under royal patronage in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, the foundation continues its inspired and responsible work for both the young and the elderly," Her Majesty said.
According to the Custodian of the Crown, despite the difficulties, communities across the country exhibit "hope, courage, generosity, goodwill, creativity and resilience."
"In these days, our thoughts turn to our Lord Jesus, to His example of sacrifice, kindness and compassion. Christmas is also a time to be together with family, friends and loved ones. I wish a Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas to all Romanians in the country, in the Republic of Moldova, in Europe and around the world! May God help us!," Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Crown conveyed.
