The Hunedoara Energy Complex (CEH) needs the state aids for the mining and electricity production activities, so it can function and cover the coal needed for thermal power plants, but also respect the labour agreement, new deputy director general Petre Nica told Agerpres on Tuesday.
In respect to the state aid for mining, the CEH deputy director pointed out that a memorandum was drawn up which should be discussed in the coming period in a government meeting. "Let us see to what extent the money will be actually found, so that we can receive it in December. There are 234 million lei, money not spent by the Valea Jiului Mines Closing Company," Nica said.
In the electricity production case, the CEH deputy director explained that the European Commission's approval is needed for the state aid to cover the difference between the selling price and the cost price, and for the thermal power plants Mintia and Paroseni to be able to operate until 2024.
He underscored that some time is needed for the company to be able to general enough revenues to ensure the coal for the Mintia and Paroseni thermal power plants, in parallel with the observance of the labour agreement. "Everything in a framework of discipline, which is important," Nica showed.
Former president of the "Muntele" (Mountain) Trade Union, Petre Nica said that his joining the CEH managerial team can be labeled as a challenge. He showed that the complex's problems are the same, even if the "positioning is different" now. "I don't find it very hard, because I have tried to approach the issues from both positions. I have not only militated on demands, without taking into account the economic or technical situation," Petre Nica concluded.
CEH will be ran as of 2 November by a new managerial team which was designated on Tuesday by the special administrator Codrut Stanescu, after former director general of the complex Cosmin Chiuzan announced he no longer wishes to extend the mandate he was given six months ago.
The new director general of the company is Mihael Melczer, and Horia Giurgiu and Petre Nica were appointed as deputy directors, the latter being known as "Muntele" Trade Union president, representative on CEH level.
CEH is in insolvency procedure because of the over 1.5 billion lei debts accumulated in time. Over 5,300 employees work with CEH in the coal mines of Lonea, Livezeni, Lupeni and Vulcan, as well as in the thermal power plants of Mintia and Paroseni.
