The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) established that the former Minister Rovana Plumb will be investigated by the General Prosecutor's Office for committing abuse of office, as the judges admitted a complaint filed by the former manager of Romsilva, Ion Dumitru.

"The Court admitted, in part, the complaint filed by claimant Dumitru Ion against the Ordinance No. 582/P/2016 of 26.05.2017 of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, the Criminal Investigation and Criminology Section, in which he challenged the decision to classify the file involving respondent Plumb Rovana for committing abuse of office, while being a Minister of Environment and Climate Change, according to article 246 of the Criminal Code of 1969, plus article 5 of the Criminal Code (item 1 of the Ordinance). The case is referred to the Prosecutor's Office with the High Court of Cassation and Justice - the Criminal Investigation and Criminology Section, so that the criminal proceedings will continue in relation to respondent Rovana Plumb committing abuse of office, in her capacity as Minister of Environment and Climate Change, according to article 246 of the Criminal Code of 1969 and the article 5 of the Criminal Code," reads the court's decision.

Ion Dumitru filed a complaint against Rovana Plumb, whom he accused of having committed abuse of office when she removed him in 2013 from his office as manager of Romsilva, after he received a three-year suspended sentence.

The prosecutors classified the file, but Ion Dumitru asked the High Court of Cassation and Justice to force the prosecutors to reopen the investigation.

Moreover, Ion Dumitru asked to have his salary paid for the past four years and be re-employed at Romsilva.

In June 2013, Ion Dumitru, former deputy representing the Social Democratic Party and former manager-general manager of RNP-Romsilva was convicted to three years suspended imprisonment, for committing abuse of office in the Romsilva II case file.

Ion Dumitru was accused by the National Anti-corruption Directorate of approving the acquisition of a heavy vehicle from Ukraine, when in fact the military vehicle made in 1978 was built on a T34 type of chassis. The vehicle costed 294,330 US dollars, while the real cost was 6,250 US dollars (extra charge of 1,744 per cent).

Later, Ion Dumitru obtained the cancellation of the suspended three years imprisonment sentence, after the Constitutional Court's decision concerning the abuse of office crime. AGERPRES.
