The President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Grosu, congratulated Romanians everywhere on the occasion of Romania's National Day.

"It is our common holiday, an opportunity to remember the history and culture that unites us, holds us together and protects us," the official stressed in a message quoted by MOLDPRES on Monday.

Igor Grosu highlighted the respect and gratitude of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova towards Romania, considered a landmark in the development and support offered in the European path of our country.

"Moldovan people love Romania, they look at it with respect, gratitude and appreciation. We are blessed to have a brother, just across the Prut, who helps and guides us whenever we need it," the official emphasized.

Grosu emphasized the importance of strengthening relations through joint projects and cooperation initiatives.

"Let's continue to build bridges, schools, kindergartens, connecting bridges. Let's preserve our history and common values," he added.

The message ended with the traditional wishes addressed to all Romanians: "Happy Birthday, Romania! Happy Birthday to all Romanians!"

December 1 was proclaimed as Romania's National Day in 1990, being celebrated for the first time that same year in Alba Iulia. Since then, every year, both in Bucharest and in most cities throughout the country, military parades and numerous ceremonies including wreath-laying are held.

Romania's National Day is linked to the historical event of December 1, 1918 - the Union of Transylvania, Banat, Crisana and Maramures with Romania, proclaimed in Alba Iulia.
