Industry turnover up 11.8pct in 2018 (INS)

The overall industrial turnover (domestic and foreign market) was up 11.8 percent in nominal terms in 2018, due to the advance recorded in the manufacturing industry (+12 percent) and the mining industry (+6 percent), according to National Institute of Statistics (INS) data released on Tuesday.

By large industrial groups, turnover increases were registered in the following sectors: the capital goods industry (+15.1 percent), the energy industry (+12.9 percent), the intermediate goods industry (+11 percent), the current goods industry (+8.2 percent) and the durable goods industry (+7 percent).

The turnover in industry in December 2018 dropped overall by 16.5 percent as compared to the previous month, following the decrease in the manufacturing industry (-17.3 percent). The mining industry went up 6.5 percent.

By large industrial groups, turnover declines were registered in the durable goods industry (-25.1 percent) and the intermediate goods industry (-24.2 percent), the capital goods industry (-17.2 percent) and the current goods industry (-10.2 percent). The energy industry went up 6.3 percent.

As compared to December 2017, the turnover in industry in December 2018 advanced overall 2.9 percent, based on growth registered in the mining industry (+7.1 percent) and the manufacturing industry (+2.7 percent).

By large industrial groups, turnover increases were registered in the following sectors: the current goods industry (+5.8 percent), the capital goods industry (+5.1 percent), the intermediate goods industry (+3.4 percent) and the durable goods industry (+2.6 percent). The energy industry dropped 11 percent.
