INSP: 78 confirmed and 16 probable cases of West Nile virus infection

A total of 78 confirmed and 16 probable cases of West Nile virus infection have been recorded since the beginning of the surveillance period (June 6) and until Thursday, the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) informed.


According to the INSP, 11 deaths have been recorded in the counties of Bihor (1), Braila (1), Ilfov (3), Dolj (2), Prahova (1), Satu Mare (2), Sibiu (1).

The distribution of cases by county (according to the territorial unit of exposure) is: Bacau (4), Bihor (2), Botosani (2), Braila (7), Buzău (1), Calarasi (1), Constanta (1), Dolj (8), Galati (8), Gorj (2), Ialomita (2), Iasi (6), Ilfov (7), Neamt (1), Olt (3), Prahova (1), Satu Mare (12), Sibiu (2), Suceava (1), Timis (1), Tulcea (3), Vaslui (3), Valcea (1) and Bucharest Municipality (15).
