Interim President Ilie Bolojan conveyed a message to the Muslim community in our country on Friday on the occasion of the beginning of the month of Ramadan, addressing wishes of peace, prosperity and good coexistence to the Muslim leadership and to the entire Muslim community in Romania, ethnic Turks and Tatars.

"I convey my full gratitude for the valuable contribution that the Muslim community in Romania makes to the progress of our society and to the development of harmonious relations between ethnicities, religions and cultures. Muslims in Romania have actively participated and continue to assume an important role in the fulfillment of our country's major goals, supporting a shared vision for a future built on trust and pluralism - humanist and democratic values alike," reads the interim president's message.

Ilie Bolojan says that, during Ramadan, "we have the opportunity to get to know the traditions and heritage of the Muslim community, with whom we have built over time a civilization based on diversity, knowledge and mutual respect".

"I am confident that these values will help us to get together through the current difficulties generated by war and the resurgence of extremist currents. May this period dedicated to prayer and fasting in the month of Ramadan be a time of reflection and communion, of joy and hope for your entire community, inspiring us to keep alive the flame of unity in diversity, which has made Romania a homeland of hospitality and coexistence in peace and unity!," states Ilie Bolojan.
