The real Romania deserves a president connected to reality, not isolated in Cotroceni Palace, Lavinia Sandru, the PUSL candidate in the presidential elections, said on Monday.
She reacted after the announcement of Klaus Iohannis' resignation.
''The presidency of Klaus Iohannis, completely disconnected from the real Romania! The announcement of the resignation of President Klaus Iohannis represents one of the few normal gestures made in recent years, from the height of the most important position in the state,'' reads a release sent to AGERPRES.
She says that a profound change is needed.
"Today, Klaus Iohannis is history. We can ask ourselves what kind of history? A history that is too silent? Inconsistent? Indifferent? For too long, the institution of the President has been disconnected from the real Romania. Too many times, the President has turned a blind eye to people's suffering and abuses. A profound change is needed. The real Romania deserves a president connected to reality, not isolated in Cotroceni. To say about a democratic approach (whose opportunity we do not discuss) that it is useless, harmful and unfounded shows the true dimension of the gap between Klaus Iohannis and the Romanians", Lavinia Sandru said.
Klaus Iohannis announced his resignation from the position of President of Romania on Monday. He mentioned that he would leave the Cotroceni Palace on February 12.
