The pair Irina Begu/Sorana Cirstea qualified on Tuesday evening for the quarterfinals of the doubles event at the Transylvania Open (WTA 250) tennis tournament, hosted at BTarena in Cluj-Napoca, with total prize money worth USD 275,094.
Begu and Cirstea defeated another Romanian duo, Briana Szabo/Patricia Tig, 6-1, 6-1, in exactly one hour of play.
In the quarterfinals, Begu and Cirstea will face the Romanian-Italian pair Jaqueline Cristian/Angelica Moratelli, who won against the top seeds, Monica Niculescu and American Sabrina Santamaria.
Begu and Cirstea, eliminated in singles, secured a 2,540-dollar cheque and 54 WTA doubles points. AGERPRES
