Japan provides additional emergency humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians; funds will be distributed to Romania as well

The Japanese Government decided on Tuesday to provide additional emergency humanitarian assistance worth 100 million dollars to help both Ukrainians facing difficulties in their country and the refugees in the neighboring countries, according to a release from the Japanese Embassy in Bucharest.

This measure is to implement the emergency humanitarian assistance announced by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on March 24, responding to urgent needs in areas such as health and healthcare, food and food security, the protection of displaced persons in Ukraine, and in the neighboring countries Moldova, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, through nine international organizations and Japanese NGOs, the diplomatic mission shows.

Along with the humanitarian aid implemented and announced on March 11, the total amount granted will reach 200 million dollars. The Japanese Government, in collaboration with the international community, including G7 members, will continue to provide support and support to the troubled Ukrainian people, the release said.

The new funds will be distributed as follows: for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - health and healthcare; water, sanitation and hygiene; shelters - 616,000 dollars for Romania and the World Health Organization - health and medical care; personal protective equipment; medical devices; drugs - 9.5 million dollars for Poland, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

The exact amount for each country has not yet been determined, Agerpres informs.
