JusMin Gorghiu says Integrated Register of Receivables from Crime to become operational this year

Justice Minister Alina Gorghiu announced that the Integrated Register of Receivables from Crime - ROARMIS will become operational this year.

''In Romania, over the years, the recovery of damages has been a mere desideratum. The focus has been on convicting the individuals concerned, but recovering the damage has left much to be desired. (...) An important step has already been taken. (...) A computer application called ROARMIS has been created, which stands for the Integrated Register of Receivables from Crime, which will become operational this year and which includes data and information to be able to identify the asset, to be able to see which is the authority that ordered the insurance measure and the type of crime that was the basis for the issuing of the order, the decision to establish the seizure, etc. So it will basically be an application that will make the debt recovery process more transparent and we will be able to generate reliable statistics for the follow-up of the debt recovery process," said Gorghiu.

According to her, the state must make every effort to recover damages resulting from crimes, "because not recovering them affects the whole society.", agerpres reports.

Present on Friday in Braila, she discussed with magistrates and lawyers.

''The judges and prosecutors in Braila are successfully managing their work, despite the shortage of staff. For this achievement they deserve all congratulations. We are focused on what we can do better! With the lawyers in Braila, we also tackled my favourite subject: legal education in schools. I also resonate with concerns about the possible over-taxation of income from the liberal professions. Such a measure means the death of these professions. I will continue to support them with everything I can, as Minister of Justice," she wrote on Facebook.

At the end, Alina Gorghiu visited the Braila-Tichilesti detention centre.

''The National Administration of Penitentiaries puts great emphasis on the re-education programmes for convicts, especially when it comes to minors and young people. Sadly, about 70% of the young people detained here have committed crimes involving violence. I respect the prison officers for the efforts they make every day to ensure that these young people are re-educated and, when appropriate, reintegrated into society,'' she added.
