Justice Minister Alina Gorghiu on Sunday, in a message sent on the occasion of Constitution Day, said that state institutions are reacting because "the truth about what happened in the presidential elections must be brought to light", Agerpres reports.

"Defending the Constitution, democracy, the rights and freedoms of citizens, and European values is, on this December 8, Constitution Day in Romania, an even more important subject. Our fundamental law gives our country security, stability, and unity. State institutions are reacting because the truth about what happened in the presidential elections must be brought to light," reads the message posted on Facebook.

The justice minister mentions that investigations are ongoing in several cases related to crimes such as voter bribery, money laundering, computer fraud, threats, incitement to violence, hatred or discrimination, and violations of arms and ammunition regulations.

"Incitement to hatred, violence, and aggressive political discourse have no place in the electoral process of a democratic country. Vulnerabilities, weaknesses, and disinformation will be overcome by strengthening the rule of law, better resilience, transparency, and correct information from state institutions. The law is what protects the integrity of the electoral process, free and fair elections," Alina Gorghiu also said.
