Justice package committee: Free medical assistance for family of judges, prosecutors

Judges' and prosecutors' dependent family members shall get free medical assistance, the parliamentary expert committee on the Justice package decided on Tuesday . 

According to an amendment unanimously passed by the lawmakers, active or retired judges and prosecutors as well as their spouses and dependent children are offered free medical assistance, medicine and prosthetics, provided that the legal requirements on the payment of social security contribution are fulfilled. "The terms for the grant of free medical assistance, medicine and prosthetics are determined under Government Resolution. These rights are not considered salary and are not subject to tax," states the amendment passed by the MPs. 

The lawmakers also decided that judges and prosecutors with a minimum length of service of 25 years alone in this office can retire upon request before the age limit and collect service pension representing 80 percent of the reference base calculated as the gross average pays and bonuses collected in 6 consecutive months in the past 5 years of activity as a magistrate, updated to the day the pension benefits are determined, with the respective period at the choice of the entitled persons.
