A project worth almost 20 million lei, aimed at updating, revising and developing new occupational standards and professional qualifications, in accordance with the economic and technological realities of the moment, was launched by the Ministry of Labour, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity (MMFTSS) and the National Authority for Qualifications.

"The Ministry of Labour, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity and the National Authority for Qualifications are launching a large-scale project dedicated to the modernisation of vocational training in Romania. It is about updating, revising and developing new occupational standards and professional qualifications, according to the economic and technological realities of the moment. The objective? Employees will be prepared for the labour market of today and tomorrow, with modern skills - digital, green, technical and entrepreneurial. In this way, employers will have a workforce adapted to the real needs in each field," it is mentioned in a post of the relevant ministry, published on Tuesday on the institution's official Facebook page.

According to the same source, over 380 occupational standards and qualifications will be updated or developed by 2029, with the involvement of experts from all economic sectors.

"Our priority is to support the development of new skills for employees, so that they have real access to the labour market, to the jobs of the present and the future. By updating occupational standards, we are building a modern labour market, adapted to the real needs of employers and current economic challenges," said the minister of labour, Simona Bucura-Oprescu.

The new project will bring a series of benefits to employees, such as: access to courses and qualifications adapted to current market realities, the acquisition of modern skills - digital, entrepreneurial and technical - that increase the chances of a better job, respectively better preparation for changes in the industry and for professional reconversion.

Also, in the case of employers, there are advantages, such as: recruiting qualified employees according to the real needs in each field, active contribution to the definition of new occupational standards, to ensure that they correspond to the requirements in the field, benefiting from a more flexible workforce and better prepared for new technologies.

The project is financed by the European Social Fund+ and has a total value of 19.6 million lei, of which over 15 million lei come from non-reimbursable European funds. AGERPRES
