A delegation from the Land of Brandenburg led by State Secretary with the Ministry of Finance and European Affairs Volker-Gerd Westphal was to the Central Region of Romania over October 27 - 28, on a working visit to the counties of Sibiu and Alba, on which occasion the sides looked at the results of the 23 years of partnership, the Regional Development Agency (ADR) Center said in a release on Wednesday.

"The discussions we had with our German partners were a veritable information marathon where we reviewed the results of more than two decades of cooperation between the two regions, and proposals were made for its continuation at a new level. We also plan to sign in 2026 a new partnership agreement between the Center Region and the Land of Brandenburg, and we will prepare other summit meetings where we will detail the proposals made now. We have a diverse cooperation, but I highlight the economic aspects here, given the current context," the general director of ADR Center Simion Cretu said.

He added that next week, a delegation of businesspeople from all counties of the Center Region will carry out an economic mission focused on agri-food - the eighth economic mission between the respective regions and the second on agri-food and food industry innovation.

On the first day of the visit, the German delegation led by Volker-Gerd Westphal - State Secretary with the Ministry of Finance and European Affairs of the Brandenburg Land and representative of the Brandenburg Land in the Committee of the European Regions - had meetings with the German consul in Sibiu Wiebke Oeser, and with the president of the Sibiu County Council, Daniela Cimpean. The discussions addressed aspects of coexistence and collaboration at all levels, as well as development proposals.

In Alba County, the visiting delegation discussed with the leadership of the ADR Center, examining the impact of bilateral cooperation on the development of the Center Region, as well as with the leadership of the Alba County Council.

The German delegation's program also included visits to important sites in Alba Iulia, Cugir and Sebes.
