The latest Romanian film productions, directed, among others, by Radu Jude, Andrei Epure and Eugen Jebeleanu, will be screened at Les Films de Cannes in Bucharest, before their official release in cinemas.

Gathered in the Autumn Previews section - the only competition in the festival - these films will vie for the Audience Award, courtesy of Dacin Sara, organisers reported on Monday.

Radu Jude's new film, "Dracula", is an experimental and satirical reinterpretation of the vampire myth, while "Sorella di Clausura", directed by Ivana Mladenovic, tells the story of Stela, an educated woman who lives in the countryside and dreams of meeting Boban, a famous Serbian musician, and in "Don't Let Me Die", directed by Andrei Epure, Maria is marked by the mysterious death of her neighbour, who is rumoured to have "talked to the trees."

"Interior Zero", directed by Eugen Jebeleanu, is a film adaptation of Lavinia Braniste's novel of the same name, and "Still Nia", directed by Paula One?, brings to the fore Stephanie, who, after 15 years of amnesia caused by a medical mistake in childhood, tries to find her identity at the age of 33, to reconnect with her alienated body and her inner child.

"Comatogen", directed by Igor Cobileanski, is a story in which Alina, a nurse played by Daniela Nane, ends up in a desperate situation because she must quickly get money to pay off a debt of her son, otherwise he risks prison.

This year too, the selection of Romanian film previews is rounded up by two sets of Romanian short films, out of competition, some of which have run at Cannes in the Semaine de la Critique and Cinefondation sections, such as "Mama!" directed by Teodor Ionita, which was in the official selection of the Premiers Plans Festival; "Triassic Cuddle", by Iulia Turicianu, presented at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and at the Shanghai International Film Festival; "Marinica, My Boy" by Mihnea Toma, screened at the DocLisboa Festival; "Alisveris" by Vasile Tondinca, screened at Cannes in the Semaine de la Critique section; "Our Sea", by Alle Dicu and "We Lived Slowly in Time of Peace", directed by Kristina Jacot.

Another series of short films includes "Eurogenesis", also screened at Cannes at the Semaine de la Critique and winner of the BIEFF Award for Best Film in the National Competition; "Weaving Anni Albers" by Alessandro del Vigna; "Milk and Cookies", directed by Andrei Tache Codreanu, presented at the Cinefondacion section in Cannes; "Kobza", by Laura Pop; "Brushes and Packages" by Adrian Latu and "Take Me to the Water", directed by Teona Galgoţiu. At the end of each series of short films, the audience will meet the film crews for discussions.

This year, the Autumn Previews mark a special event, built around the screening of the medium-length film "Index" directed by Radu Muntean. Muntean and the film crew will be in attendance for an extensive discussion with the audience, moderated by Roxana Calinescu and Andrei Tanasescu, during "Let's talk about film", an event held in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute.

The Les Films de Cannes Festival a Bucharest is an event founded in 2010 by Cristian Mungiu with support from the general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, Thierry Fremaux, and is organised by the Cinemascop Association and Voodoo Films.
