The total number of citizens with the right to vote listed with the Electoral Register as of August 25 is 19,004,986, thus 21,401 more than in the last public information made by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) according to which on July 31 there were 18,983,585 Romanian voters in the register.
According to a press statement released by AEP, the differences are a result of the current operations performed by the mayors in the Electoral Register related to the territorial administrative units led by them, of data imports from the General Directorate of Passports (DGP) and from the Directorate for Personal Records and Database Administration (DEPABD), as well as the addition of Romanian voters who turn 18 by the date set for the local elections, September 27.
AEP mentions that, out of the total number of Romanian voters in the Electoral Register, 18,270,004 have their domicile or residence in Romania, and 734,982 have a domicile abroad and are holders of CRDS (Romanian citizen living abroad) passports.
