'Magic Summer' International Festival to open with 'Mozart Forever' concert at Romanian Athenaeum on Wednesday

The 14th edition of the 'Magic Summer' International Festival, one of Europe's major summer cultural events and one of the few of its kind to spotlight Romania's capital, begins Wednesday at the Romanian Athenaeum.

This year's edition, taking place between 2 July and 13 August, includes two evenings dedicated to 'Beethoven - Complete Piano Concertos', nine exceptional soloists and six extraordinary concerts, all within a series of eight classical music evenings, according to the festival's official website, agerpres reports.

The programme opens Wednesday with the 'Mozart Forever' concert at 7:30 p.m., featuring the Royal Camerata, conducted by Constantin Grigore, with soloist Petru Pane (clarinet).

The opening night's programme includes: W. A. Mozart: Overture to the opera 'Don Giovanni', W. A. Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A major, K.622, W. A. Mozart: Symphony No. 41 'Jupiter'.

The next concert, titled 'Immortal Beethoven', will take place on 9 July at 7:30 p.m., performed by the Youth Orchestra of the Republic of Moldova, conducted by Jesko Sirvend, with soloists Alexandru Tomescu (violin), Sinziana Mircea (piano) and Stefan Cazacu (cello).

The remaining performances are scheduled as follows: 16 July - 'Invitation to the Waltz' with the Chamber Ensemble of the 'George Enescu' Philharmonic, 23 July - 'Beethoven - Complete Piano Concertos (I)' with the Magic Summer Festival Orchestra, conductor and soloist Andrei Licaret (piano), 24 July - 'Beethoven - Complete Piano Concertos (II)' with the Magic Summer Festival Orchestra, conductor and soloist Andrei Licaret (piano), 30 July - 'Musical Jewels' with Kamerata Kronstadt, conductor Cristian Orosanu, soloist Constantin Sandu (piano), 6 August - 'Paganini Magic' - recital by Alexandru Tomescu, with Dragos Ilie on guitar, 13 August - 'Liviu Prunaru - 50 Years of Violin' with the Radio Chamber Orchestra, conductor and soloist Liviu Prunaru.
