New orders in the manufacturing industry increased by 4.7% January through October this year against the same interval in 2024, according to data released on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Thus, during the period January 1 - October 31, 2025, increases were reported in: the current goods industry (+7.7%), the durable goods industry (+6.1%), the intermediate goods industry (+4.6%) and the capital goods industry (+4.3%).
In October, compared to the same month in 2024, new orders in the manufacturing industry increased, in nominal terms, by 1.9% due to the current goods industry (+6.4%) and the capital goods industry (+6.1%). On the other hand, the durable goods industry (-14.9%) and in the intermediate goods industry (-5%) went down.
According to the same source, from one month to the next (October vs. September 2025), the number of new orders in the manufacturing industry increased by 4.8%, as a result of the activities carried out in the durable goods industry (+10.1%), the capital goods industry (+6.4%) and the intermediate goods industry (+2.4%). At the opposite side of the scale the current goods industry decreased by 2%, compared to the reference period.
