Marblue 2024 Conference in Constanta to honor International Black Sea Day

Constanta city will honor International Black Sea Day, which is celebrated every year on October 31, by organizing between October 23 - 25 the Marblue 2024 International Conference, with over 150 participants from 12 countries attending.

The National Research and Development Institute for Marine Geology and Geoecology (GeoEcoMar) announced on Monday that, together with the 'Grigore Antipa' National Marine Research and Development Institute, the 'Ovidius' University in Constanta, and the Mare Nostrum NGO, it will organize the second edition of the Marblue International Conference - Blue Growth: Challenges and Opportunities for the Black Sea, October 23 to 25. The event is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Transformation, and the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forestry, told Agerpres.

The Marblue 2024 International Conference celebrates in advance the International Black Sea Day, marked every year on October 31, the date when back in 1996, the six states bordering on the Black Sea - Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine - signed the Black Sea Strategic Action Plan.

"157 participants from 12 countries - Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, France, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Spain, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine - have confirmed their presence at the event, where they will present the results of national and international projects carried out in partnership with the H2020 DOORS (Developing Optimal and Open Research Support for the Black Sea) Program. The aim of the conference is to contribute to the protection of the Black Sea by providing multidisciplinary support for sustainable development and to offer scientists and companies involved in research and development activities an adequate framework for fruitful discussions, including on aspects related to fundamental research and technological innovation," the release notes.

The conference will take place at the 'Ovidius' University of Constanta, starting on October 23, at 9:30 a.m.
