Director of the Special Telecommunications Service (STS) Marcel Opris argues that the parliamentary elections of December 11 will "probably be the most transparent" to have ever taken place in Romania's history.
"Together with the other factors we established and ordered: any kind of information operation shall be recorded and kept as long as the law provides. In the event of an offense, we'll keep these records until the effect of the offense is cleared. (...) Therefore, from this point of view, even of a STS operator, someone from the Central Electoral Bureau performs an operation in the information system altering the correctness of the voting, the traces remain there and are at the disposal of justice. Any possibility that the citizens' will be altered in the electronic systems is ruled out," Opris said on Thursday in the beginning of the meeting of the Central Technical Committee on coordinating election organisation activities.
