Isolated incidents in the region have not directly affected the life of the community, says Father Alexandru Cristian Truscan, parish priest of the Romanian community in Dubai, who conveyed a message of reassurance and caution regarding the crisis situation in the Middle East.
"We are following the developments with utmost responsibility," the priest told basilica.ro.
Amid recent tensions and geopolitical developments in the region, which have caused concern among Romanians in the diaspora, the parish priest said that the situation remains stable and daily life carries on safely as normally.
"Although in recent days there have been isolated incidents in the region, they haven't directly affect the life of the community, and the authorities are managing the situation responsibly. (...) The liturgical schedule of our parish continues as usual. We remain in constant contact with our community members. (...) So far, there have been no requests for special interventions or emergency assistance addressed to our parish," said Father Alexandru Cristian Truscan.
The priest notes, however, that some Romanians currently in the United Arab Emirates are facing difficulties returning to Romania.
"In such situations, the parish reaffirms its role of spiritual and communal support, offering guidance and pastoral assistance to those affected. (...) We pray for peace among nations and for an end to wars, asking God to bring calm, wisdom, and stability to the region and to the entire world," he added.
According to the clergyman, the Romanian Parish in Dubai urges all Romanians facing difficulties to stay in contact with the competent authorities and with representatives of the Romanian community.
Romanian citizens in the United Arab Emirates are advised to report their presence in the country by sending their contact details to the Embassy of Romania in Abu Dhabi at abudhabi@mae.ro and to the Consulate General of Romania in Dubai at dubai@mae.ro, or through the Econsulat platform.
The UAE airspace has been partially reopened, but only a limited number of flights are currently allowed from the country's main airports, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, according to the UAE government. Romanians requiring repatriation are asked to remain in contact with the consular authorities to receive updates on the resumption of flights to Romania.
