Minister-delegate for European Affairs George Ciamba stated, in a message occasioned by the National Day, that the Centennial Romania will be involved in re-shaping the future of the most "grandiose" political project of integration in history - the European project, mentioning that, on the other hand, the national objectives can be achieved only when the society finds the strength to work together.
"100 years have passed since the moment when the 1918 generation managed the Greater Union and Romania celebrates this Centennial as a democratic state, part of a structure of alliances that made it more stronger, safer and prosperous. The celebration of the Centennial is the best moment to enjoy the successes gained throughout this century, through the involvement and perseverance of all political and institutional actors, cultural and diplomatic elites, but also of the Romanian society. It is the moment to bring to mind that the national objectives can be achieved only when the Romanian society finds the strength to work together, to capitalise on its resources, in a consensual manner and the ambition to act unitary for common ideals," Ciamba stated, according to a release sent to AGERPRES.
The dignitary brings to mind that Romania is, for over 11 years, full member of the European Union, a status which has brought the country many benefits. "The most important of which is the membership to the European project, to a community based on principles and values that we fully share," the Minister stated.
He said that Romania is ready to take over, for the first time, the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, "a mission with multiple challenges" and "an opportunity for Romania to prove its pro-European vocation and further act as a credible and solidarity partner."
"A prosperous Union cannot function without cohesion. The foundation of advancing the European project consists in the Union ensuring the political, economic and social cohesion. The Centennial Romania will be fully involved in re-shaping the future of the most grandiose political project of integration in history - the European project. We are ready to take on this role and we will prove this thing during the period of holding the Presidency of the Council of the EU," George Ciamba assured.
He urged the Romanians to have confidence in Romania's and Europe's future.
