The Ministry of Culture proposes a new cultural management law, with the draft law currently under public consultation on the institution's website.

"A new cultural management law in Romania is both a necessity and an urgency, in order to ensure a professional path and natural development of the cultural institutions. The current special law is outdated and widely contested. Increasingly, situations arise where the growing demands of selection committees and rigorous analysis have led to the rejection of all candidacies," the Ministry stated in a Facebook post.

The Ministry of Culture appreciates the high level of interest shown, across all sectors, in the competitions held in recent months.

"I am glad that many of the questions in the media or online comments find answers or solutions in the new law we are proposing. We promised fair competitions, serious and independent committees, transparency, accessibility and this is how we have shaped the provisions of the new law," Minister of Culture Demeter Andras Istvan said.

He stated that during the 30-day consultation period, comments and opinions are expected to contribute to improving the draft law.

"I committed to a democratic change, based on parliamentary debate, and after the Government adopts the initiative, it will come into force in the form resulting from the legislator's vote. Because we know that only through dialogue can we reach the best version of the law. And ours," the Minister of Culture added.
