Ministry of Education: 76 positive cases of COVID-19 following rapid, saliva-based tests

The Ministry of Education informs that 76 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were reported on Thursday, by 19:00, following the administration of rapid non-invasive, saliva-based tests.

Of these, four have already been confirmed by PCR tests, three have been invalidated, and 69 have not yet been confirmed/ invalidated, the Ministry of Education states in a statement sent to AGERPRES.

In other news, the Ministry of Education has announced that it will seek further clarification on the delivery of 7 million saliva tests.

"Regarding the request addressed to DSU/IGSU by the Ministry of Education regarding the test supply schedule, through the answer communicated this evening we were informed that 'the quantity of 8,000,000 pieces was received, only 7,000,000 pieces remaining to be delivered, because the suppliers of DDS Diagnostic SRL and ISSOSOCIAL MEDIA SRL have not fulfilled their contractual obligations'. In the answer received, we were not informed of the datewhen the 7,000,000 tests will be delivered. As such, the Ministry of Education will request further clarifications on this issue," the cited reads reads.

The Ministry of Education reiterates that "it has no competences/responsibilities in deciding on data evaluated and established by the authority in charge of carrying out the public procurement procedure, respectively contracting and managing the related budget, not being able to decide in any way on issues that regard the supplier companies, the purchase prices or other details related to the organization of the tender, nor on some issues related to the conclusion/execution of some contracts in which the Ministry of Education has no quality".
