The Ministry of Finance (MF) borrowed 2.997 billion RON from banks on Thursday, through two benchmark government bond issues, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
Thus, the Ministry of Finance attracted 1.615 billion RON through an issue of state bonds, with a residual maturity of 22 months, at an average yield of 7.24% per annum. The nominal value of the issue was 500 million RON, and banks subscribed 1.760 billion RON. An additional auction is scheduled for Friday through which the state wants to attract another 75 million RON at the yield established on Thursday for the bonds.
The ministry also raised 1.382 billion RON through another issue of state bonds, with a residual maturity of 109 months, at an average yield of 7.34% per annum. The value of the issue was 300 million RON, and banks subscribed 1.924 billion RON. An additional auction is scheduled for Friday, through which the state wants to raise another 45 million RON at the yield established on Thursday for the bonds.
The Ministry of Finance (MoF) planned, in July 2025, loans from commercial banks worth 5.8 billion RON, to which an amount of 795 million RON can be added through additional sessions of non-competitive offers, related to bond auctions.
The total amount, of 6.595 billion RON, is 790 million RON higher than that scheduled in June of this year, of 5.805 billion RON, and will be intended for refinancing public debt and financing the state budget deficit.
According to the prospectus published in the Official Gazette, an auction will be organized on July 10 for an issue of discount treasury certificates, in the amount of 500 million RON, maturing on June 29, 2026.
Also, during July, auctions will be organized for 14 benchmark bond issues, with a total value of 5.3 billion RON, followed the next day by an additional session of non-competitive offers, with a value of 15% of the initial value of the bond issue (795 million RON in total).
Thus, auctions were scheduled for 10 bond issues of 400 million RON, on July 7, 10, 14 (two), 17, 21, 24, 28 and 31 (two), two auctions for issues of 300 million RON, one on July 3 and one on July 28, an auction of 500 million RON on July 3 and one of 200 million RON on July 24.
