Romanian tennis player Miriam Bulgaru qualified on Friday for the semi-finals of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy (WTA 125), pool prize money of 115,000 USD and hosted by the National Tennis Center, after defeating Russian Alevtina Ibraghimova 6-2, 6-2, told Agerpres.
Bulgaru (25 years old, world No. 202) won after an hour and 23 minutes against a qualifier (19 years old, world No. 335).
Bulgaria served better and won comfortably and is due to meet Georgian qualifier Ekaterine Gorgodze in the semi-finals.
The Romanian won her only match against Gorgodze (32, world No. 426) in 2023 in Santa Margherita in the first round 6-3, 6-4.
The Bulgarian secured a check worth 5,300 USD and 49 WTA points.
In the last quarter-final of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy, Patricia Tig will face Dutch Anouk Koevermans.
