The international seminar “Protecting Mobile Workers: Rights and Forms of Representation” brought together 90 participants from 16 countries, providing a European platform for dialogue on the protection and representation of mobile workers. The event was organised by The International ACLI Federation, in cooperation with Patronato ACLI, IPSIA ACLI, and ENAIP Nazionale, with the support of the European Commission and the EZA network (Europäisches Zentrum für Arbeitnehmerfragen).
Discussions focused on ensuring that freedom of movement within the European Union is accompanied by strong guarantees for social rights, labour protection and dignity at work. The proposed European Social Security Pass (ESSPASS), the effective portability of social rights, simplification of administrative procedures and the development of functional digital tools were key topics of debate.
Participants also addressed the implications of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, emphasizing the need to move beyond a predominantly security-based approach and invest more decisively in integration, decent work and active participation.
The main conclusion highlighted the importance of more open and adaptable models of representation for mobile workers and diasporas, contributing to the development of a genuine European citizenship. The central message was clear: mobility is already European — rights must fully become European as well.
