Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean said on Saturday that bilateral relations between Chisinau and Bucharest have risen "to the most brotherly level" since Nicusor Dan became president and Ilie Bolojan prime minister, Agerpres reports.
He stated that bilateral relations have been built, over the years, through the bonds between people, and that they cannot be destroyed "by time or politicians", but only strengthened, to ensure resistance "in the face of any foreign challenges" and to solve citizens' problems.
"With Ilie Bolojan as Prime Minister, with Nicuşor Dan as President, relations between Chisinau and Bucharest have risen, I believe, to the most brotherly level. In recent years, we have supported each other in the face of difficulties, in the face of the interference of foreign forces in our elections. But we have also celebrated, with the same joy, the successes of each. When Moldova or Romania climb the international podiums, when Moldova or Romania win in football, we experience the same emotion of pride and joy," he said, in a joint press conference held in Chisinau, alongside Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
Recean mentioned that Romania is with the Republic of Moldova "at every step" in building the European path. The partnership between governments, companies, cultural and educational institutions from the two countries is materializing in "concrete" results for the people on both banks of the Prut, he added.
The official from Chisinau thanked Romania for supporting the Republic of Moldova in its efforts to become energy independent.
"We take over 50% of our electricity from Romania, at advantageous prices, and together we build vital interconnection lines for the energy security of the Republic of Moldova," Recean stated.
At the same time, he stated that the authorities in Chisinau continue to count on Romania's support in the discussions regarding the EU financial framework, for the inclusion of the Republic of Moldova in European budgetary planning and for accessing pre-accession funds as soon as possible.
"We are completing the Vulcanesti - Chisinau line in the south and starting the construction of two more lines, Balti - Suceava in the north and Straseni - Gutinas in the center. In addition to the Ungheni bridge, which will be the first permanent road bridge over the Prut built in the last six decades, we are planning four more new bridges, which will make life easier for travelers, but also for freight carriers," the Moldovan prime minister said.
Dorin Recean supported the reduction of waiting times at border points, mentioning that the implementation of the electronic scheduling system will be accelerated, so that carriers can register online.
A third of the Republic of Moldova's exports go to Romania, including electrical conductors, wheat, furniture, and wines.
"The Republic of Moldova has a very important export market in Romania. Over 1,600 companies with Romanian capital offer jobs in the Republic of Moldova and it is important that all these figures grow: trade, number of jobs created, number of successful companies opening on both banks of the Prut," he emphasized.
The Prime Minister mentioned, however, that all these aspects depend on how the Republic of Moldova chooses its future.
"Moldova has an essential decision to make in the fall. And I am confident that our nation will choose what is best for it. Mr. Bolojan, we still have a lot to do and we have no time to waste, we have previously wasted far too many years. Chisinau and Bucharest, I am convinced, will sit at the European table to make decisions for the future of the entire continent, one day soon," he concluded.
