Police at the Albita Border Crossing Point have discovered a Moldovan national transporting five cylinders of Freon without the required authorization, goods valued at more than 50,000 RON and reportedly destined for Lithuania.
The 54-year-old man was driving a minibus bound for Lithuania and arrived at Albita to complete entry formalities into Romania.
"Based on the risk profile, a thorough check was carried out, during which the joint control team of border police and customs officers found, hidden and undeclared in order to evade customs control, five cylinders of R134A refrigerant, each with a net weight of 13.6 kilograms, for which the driver did not hold a transport authorization. In line with legal provisions, the goods, worth a total of 54,400 RON, were seized," the Iasi Border Police Territorial Inspectorate said.
Investigators have opened a case for transporting dangerous substances and preparations in violation of legal regulations. Legal measures will be taken once the investigation is completed.
