Moldovan PM Munteanu at Elisabeta Palace; discussions on supporting Moldova's accession to the EU

Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, welcomed on Thursday at the Elisabeta Palace Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, occasion on which the discussions focused on continuing royal initiative in support of the Republic of Moldova's accession to the European Union.

The distinguished guest was welcomed in front of the Elisabeta Palace by Her Majesty Margareta and His Royal Highness Prince Radu.

Within the meeting, the Custodian of the Crown and the Moldovan Prime Minister discussed continuing royal initiatives in support of the Republic of Moldova's accession to the EU, as well as following up on projects in education, economy, culture, civil society and public administration in the Republic of Moldova, according to the Press Office of His Majesty's House.

After the meeting, the Moldovan Prime Minister signed the Golden Book of the Elisabeta Palace, opened in 1937.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the delegation present at the Elisabeta Palace was made up of Eugen Osmochescu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalisation, Vladimir Bolea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Dorin Junghietu, Minister of Energy, Alexei Buzu, Secretary General of the Moldovan Government, Serghei Diaconu, Head of the Prime Minister's Office and Elisaveta Braguta, Adviser to the Prime Minister's Cabinet.

Also in attendance were Victor Chirila, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Bucharest, Cristian-Leon Turcanu, Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova, as well as Andrei Paladuta, Corina Siman and Boris Cremene from the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Alexandru Munteanu, paid his first official foreign visit to Bucharest on Thursday since taking office.

In the morning, the head of the Government in Chisinau was welcomed by President Nicusor Dan at the Cotroceni Palace.

He also held meetings at the Palace of Parliament with the Presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, Sorin Grindeanu and Mircea Abrudean, as well as with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan at the Victoria Palace.

The Moldovan Prime Minister's visit to Bucharest takes place just one day before the Republic of Moldova takes over, on 14 November, the six-month presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the decision-making body of the Council.

In order to support of the Republic of Moldova's accession to the European Union, Prince Radu carried out official visits to Belgium (June 2016) and the United Kingdom (February 2017). Her Majesty the Custodian of the Crown paid official visits to Sweden (March 2023), Spain (September 2023), Belgium (March 2024), Luxembourg (May 2024), Finland (June 2024), Estonia (May 2025) and the Republic of Ireland (June 2025), according to www.romaniaregala.ro.
