Romanian tennis player Monica Niculescu and German Vivian Heisen qualified, on Thursday, for the semifinals of the doubles event of the WTA 125 tournament in Angers (France), with total prizes of 92,742 euros, after defeating Nadia Kicenok (Ukraine)/Kimberley Zimmermann (Belgium) 6-4, 6-3, told Agerpres.
Niculescu and Heisen sealed their victory after one hour and 14 minutes of playing.
In the semifinals of this short draw (eight pairs), Niculescu and Heisen will face the winners of the match between Alycia Parks (USA)/Shuai Zhang (China), seeds no. 1, and Anastasia Detiuc (Czech Republic)/Oksana Kalashnikova ( Georgia).
Niculescu and Heisen won 2,100 euros and 57 WTA doubles points for reaching this far in the competition.
Also on Thursday, Jaqueline Cristian will meet the American Alycia Parks in the round of 16 of the singles event.
