More than 166,000 Romanian tourists touched down on News Year's Eve holiday in the country resorts, by 4.5pct more than in the previous year, spending over 40 million euro, up by 8.5pct as compared to last year's New Year's holiday, the data by the Romanian Tourism's Employers Federation (FPTR) reveal.
This year on the new Year's Eve, the tourists number grew, considering the increase of the purchase power and in particular the existence of the holiday vouchers that have compensated the lack of the snow in some resorts and mounted by 4.5pct the tourists number versus 2018 New Year's holiday.
Most of the packages sold this New Year's Eve were recorded by the rural tourism: 57,000 tourists chose to spend their New Year's Eve night in guest houses, and yet their figure was down 1.7pct as compared to last year.
More than 28,000 Romanians spent their in-between years' holiday in the resorts, similar to last year. An increase was recorded in the mountain areas, with 37,000 people choosing to spend this special night at the mountain, by 2.7pct more than last year.
The highest percentage increase was recorded for the New Year's Eve offers of the big cities' hotels, where over 42,000 persons have paid for a 2-night package at the least, up by 16.5pct against last year. Significant growth recorded the Danube Delta along the Black Sea coast, too.
From the FPTR figures, the Romanians have spent over 187.5 million lei (40 million EUR) to purchase the New Year's Eve tourism packages in the country, up by 8.5pct against last year. The most looked for resorts were located in the Prahova Valley, Poiana Brasov, Paltinis, Ranca, Straja, Calimanesti, Baile Felix and the rural traditional areas of Bran-Moieciu, Maramures, Bucovina.
