Dozens of poetry lovers took part on Thursday in the events organized in Deva by the Hunedoara County Library, to celebrate the birthday of the poet Mihai Eminescu and the National Culture Day.
The events were held in partnership with high school pupils in the city, at the poet's statue in the Deva Citadel Park.
"This year, we have placed Eminescu's celebration under the heading 'Eminescu, the star prince', inspired by the moving poem of the same name by the poet Mircea Micu, a heading that very well summarizes the entire significance of Eminescu genius. We are happy that, in mid-January, we can offer, on the Day of National Culture, on the day of our national poet, this meeting that will never lose its attractiveness, because Eminescu never loses his relevance either, becoming more and more relevant from year to year," declared the manager of the Hunedoara-Deva County Library, Sebastian Bara.
Verses from Eminescu's lyrics and songs composed on Eminescu's verses resounded at the poet's statue under the heading "Longing, singing and love of the country - essences of the Eminescu spirit".
Next, at the reading room of the county library, well-known poets from Hunedoara County gave a poetry recital and spoke about our great national poet. Also, at the "Europa" Hall, within the Hunedoara County School Inspectorate, the contest entitled "Eminescu - The Mountain Without Paths" took place, in which pupils from the high schools in Deva answered questions on topics related to the life and work of Romania's national poet.
