The nationwide unemployment rate was 4.04% at end-October 2017, down by 0.10 percentage points from September and by 0.72 percentage points from October 2016, the National Employment Agency (ANOFM) informs on Wednesday.
Of the 353,292 persons registered with the territorial employment agencies, 66,081 were on unemployment benefits.
Compared to the previous month, men's unemployment rate decreased from 4.37% in September 2017 to 4.23%, and women's unemployment rate fell from 3.88% in September to 3.82%.
Depending on the residence area, at end-October 2017, registered with the ANOFM there were 103,233 unemployed in urban areas and 250,059 jobless people in rural areas.
Most out-of-job persons were aged 40 - 49 (99,738), followed by those aged 30-39 (69,097).
As to the structure of unemployment by level of education, the unemployed without education and those with primary, secondary and vocational education had the highest share in the total number of the jobless people registered with the ANOFM (78.53%), while the unemployed who graduated from high school accounted for 16.72%, and those with university studies - 4.75%.
